These choices offer players the chance to further customize their character creating more diversity between characters of the same profession and give the player an additional goal when leveling. At level 10, a player earns five Expertise points and then earns 1 point every two levels up to a maximum of forty-five points at level 90. Once a player reaches level 10, they can activate the Expertise interface (it will appear on the Main Menu) and begin allocating their points over the two trees available to their profession. As you adventure through the galaxy, you will come across loot and other rewards that can help give you an edge when you are up against tough enemies. To make the best use of the loot, it's good to know the basics of how each character attribute affects your character. Here, we have a have a look at character attribute, what they mean and how to make the best of them. Characteristics In game, you can open your character sheet by pressing "C". When you do, you'll see the first page of your character sheet that has your character's attributes (The "Status" tab). Character Attributes Health
  • This bar is your Total Health Points. It represents how much damage you can take before your character is incapacitated. When your character has zero health, you character will be incapacitated. When this happens, you will see a "Weakness Timer" appear on your display. If you are incapacitated twice within 1 minute, you will be cloned.
  • Health is the red bar on your display.
  • The number displayed on your character sheet is: Current Health Points / Total Health Points.
Action
  • This bar is your Total Action Points . It represents how many special abilities you will be able to do. This bar recharges on its own, but if you do several high-action cost attacks, you can run out of Action Points and have to wait a short time before you can execute another attack.
  • Action is the green bar on your display.
  • The number displayed on your character sheet is: Current Action Points / Total Action Points.
All of the following attributes are displayed as zero. As you equip weapons, armor, modified clothing and consume buffs, this number will change. These attributes will show up on your character sheer as your total current bonuses. Strength : This attribute affects your offensive melee attacks . Constitution : This attribute affects your health and action bars. You can use items and buffs to a dd up to 8 points to your Health Bar and 2 points to your Action bar for every 1 point of Constitution.   Stamina : This attribute affects your action and health bars. You can use items and buffs to a dd up to 8 points to your Action Bar and 2 points to your Health bar for every 1 point of Stamina. Precision : This attribute affects your offensive ranged attacks . The higher this number is, the better a bonus you have to hitting a target with ranged attacks. Agility: This attribute affects your defensive abilities . The higher this number is, the better a binue you will have at surviving enemy attacks. Luck: Luck is a special attribute that can have a surprise affect on your game play. For instance, if you see the message <<Lucky!!>>, then you might have recieved an experience bonus or it could be a non-combat bonus too. For instance, it can increase your "sell rate" when selling items to a Junk Dealer. When this happens, you will get a bonus payout by getting a higher price for goods sold to Fences or Junk Dealers. Green Attribute: If you notice that you have an attribute listed in green, that means that it is currently being increased by a buff. Offense / Defense : On the right side of your display, there is a listing for Offence and Defense. These will list the total amount of active bonuses your character has as a result from buffs. Offense and Defense are never increased with items. They are only increased with Buffs. Items indirectly give offensive or defensive boosts by boosting Strength, Precision or Agility. Buffs directly give offensive or defensive bonuses by increasing Offense or Defense. Protections: This is a list of special attacks in the game that your character can find special protections for. As you equip items that may increase your special protections, the total amount will be listed here.   Using Loot Buffs There are many items in the game that can be used to boost or "buff" the attributes of your character. Some can be found as loot, some can be earned as quest rewards and others are earned by playing your character and earning level rewards. Here are a few tips on understanding how to get the most out of your items. Below is an "Improved Dexterity Stim". It is a commonly found loot reward that can be used to boost your agility. You can find out the stats for this item by using the radial menu to examine it in your inventory. It will show you the level your character needs to be able to use the buff, the amount of time you have to wait before you can consume another of the same or similar buffs and the name of the effect.

You can activate the buff by double-clicking it from your inventory, using the radial menu or drop-and-dragging it to your Toolbar. Once it is on your toolbar, you can queue up the item and click the right mouse button to activate the buff. When you activate the buff, you will see a buff icon on under your name. The icon will be displayed for the duration of the buff. The icon will blink shortly before the buff ends and is removed from your character.   You can find even more details about the buff by moving your mouse cursor over the buff icon. The buff display looks like this:

Happy Hunting!

Introduction to Profession Expertise

Give your character more depth with the Expertise system. Profession Expertise is a new feature that will let you develop your character by improving existing abilities as well as unlocking new ones for you to try out. Expertise information listed below:
  • What are Expertise Points?
  • How will I know I've earned Expertise Points?
  • Expertise Trees
  • How to allocate Expertise Points
  • What does each Expertise Ability do?
  • Expertise Ability Pre-requisites
  • Which Professions will have Expertise Abilities?
  • Re-Allocating your Expertise Points
What are Expertise Points? Starting at level 10 and continuing as you advance in levels, you will earn Expertise Points. You can spend these points on specialized Expertise Abilities. At level 10, you will be awarded 5 points, and you will continue to earn an additional 1 point at every even level until you reach level 90. At level 90, you will have earned a total of 45 Expertise points.   How will I know I've earned Expertise Points? You will get a pop-up window that says:

Expertise Trees Each profession will start off with two available Expertise trees. You will see the tabs for each tree at the top of the Expertise window. Each profession has one general Expertise tree and a profession-specific tree as well. Once all professions have their Expertise abilities available, a third Galactic Civil War Expertise tree will be introduced. Once your profession has Expertise abilities available, you can open your Expertise window in-game through the main game menu. Look for the menu item, "Expertise."

Press ESC or use your mouse to click on the button in the bottom right of your screen.

Once you've opened your Expertise window, you'll be able to see the Expertise abilities and switch between the trees by using the "General" and "Path" tabs at the top of the window.

How to allocate expertise points As you earn Expertise points, you spend them toward abilities specific to your profession. Different abilities require different numbers of Expertise Points so you may need to save your points for an ability that costs more points. Also, you may increase your rank in some Abilities by spending more points. Your rank in each Ability is noted in the side-bar description of it. Selecting which ability you purchase is simple:
  • Left-clicking on the ability's icon allows you to select that ability.
  • If after you click on a box you decide you would prefer a different ability, simply right-click on the box you just chose, and your choice will be cancelled.
You may select and un-select skills in this manner UNTIL you press the Train button in the bottom right hand side of the Expertise window.   Once you Train your skill, you will have purchased any ability selected during that session. We'll discuss how to re-allocate your Expertise Points later on in the article.   What does each Expertise Ability do? Moving your mouse cursor over an expertise box displays general information about the skill in a pop-up box. More in-depth information will appear in the side-bar of the Expertise window.

Expertise Ability Prerequisites
Tier Prerequisites Each profession's Expertise tree is divided into tiers. You must spend a certain number of points in each tier before being able to spend points in the next tier. For example, a Tier 2 Expertise requires that at least 4 points have been spent in that tree along with any other pre-requisites specific to that Expertise. Previous Expertise Prerequisites In addition to tier prerequisites, a specific Expertise Ability may require that you have acquired an ability that precedes it in the tree. These required prerequisite abilities must be fully purchased (i.e. all ranks in that Ability must be purchased) to unlock the following Expertise Ability. For example, the Force Run Expertise (a tier 3 expertise) has Heightened Speed (a tier 2 Expertise with 3 ranks) as a pre-requisite. You will have had to have purchased all three Heightened Speed Abilities to unlock the Force Run Ability.
Reallocating your Expertise points If you train some Expertise abilities and find that you don't like your choices, you can reallocate your Expertise Points. Simply head to your nearest Profession Counselor, click on her, and she will reset your Expertise Points. You can reallocate your Expertise Points the first 5 times for FREE! However, a fee will be charged for any further reallocation of Expertise Points.  The "Profession Counselor" can be found in these city locations right by the starports:
  • Tatooine in Mos Eisley
  • Coronet in Corellia
  • Theed in Naboo

We've listed all of the main space stations, all known battle stations, hyperspace routes, general points of interest, security bulletins, mining stations and mining surveys. The locations listed here in these star charts can be easily accessed in your ship. Access your datapad and click the "POI" tab on your interface. All of the major points will be listed. You can either activate your waypoint and travel to your desired destination or open your zone map (Press the "N" key or type /zonemap into your spatial chat window) and set your autopilot by right-clicking on your destination point. Here's a description of the various destination types: Main Space Station: Here, you will find access to planet starports, get repairs for your ship and take space missions. Some station missions have tier requirements and faction limitations. Hyperspace Routes: Hyperspace routes are open areas of space where ships travel.  At each of these locations, you can see ships traveling and in some cases, hostile forces will be in waiting to catch unsuspecting travelers off guard!
  • You can open up your hyperspace map in space by pressing "H".
  • You will see all of the planets listed. Right-click on any of the the planets to choose which hyperspace point you want to travel to.
Battle Stations: Battle stations are space stations you can travel to to declare yourself to take part in player-versus-player (PvP) space combat. If you declare for PvP in space, it is for space only. Mining Stations: Mining stations are where you can go to sell ore mined from asteroids. Different mining stations will purchase different asteroid minerals at different rates.
