By Joshua TemblettI haven’t played a point and click free MMORPG in a long time, so I was more than happy to preview this very attractive looking online world. ASDA Story has a very comforting feel about it, what with the cartoon characters having giant feet and with a distinct anime style that echoes throughout its universe. Also with the list of “jaw dropping” features that this game boasts, I became very interested in whether or not this game will be a revolution to the genre. But first how about we get this out of the way, ASDA Story is a grinding game. At the beginning of this story, you will be given short and fun quests, however shortly after level ten, you will begin to see just how amazingly repetitive this title is. It’s also incredibly addicting. You’ll spend your whole time, killing monsters, levelling up, completing quests and then repeating those three chores, however there is always new equipment and armour to be found or bought and this is where the addictive side comes in. You see the weapons and armour always make your character look super shiny and cool, and you’ll always want that set of gloves that give your persona just that little bit more defence and style. Your little avatar will also gain points every level in which you can put into your skills, increasing their power and enabling you to learn more skills. ASDA Story does however increase your stats as you level up automatically, which is useful for those of us who hate the whole “class build” concept, however if you’re one of those players who enjoys choosing how fast/strong your character is, you may not enjoy the lack of customisation available. There is no real back story to the world of ASDA Story to begin with; however as the game progresses on you will be treated to more and more snippets of information regarding the lore of the world. Whilst the game may not have a compelling storyline, it does sport several short stories, which are played out through doing quests. However you’ll quickly find out that these brief tales are nothing more than an excuse to exercise your patience in doing repetitive tasks. So whilst the story and gameplay are nothing to write home about, the graphics are very fresh and certainly the characters you create look and feel like Disney characters. There are however a few game bugs to still be fixed in the environment, one such game bug is that you can walk through huge boulders and bushes (which you get the general feeling the designers wanted to be solid). Whilst we can walk through bushes in real life, sure we may get a few scratches and scars, I have yet to see any human being walk into a humongous rock and come out the other side. Indeed the game doesn’t push awe filled “Wow!”s with its graphic but it does have its very own sense of manner and tone. The features that stand out among this title and try to make it seem different from the rest are interesting. The game has a Soul-Mate System, whereby you can make someone your soul partner and share exp, among other things, with them. You can even play as your Soul Mate’s character! Another system is the “Sowel System”, whereby your weapon of choice/amour needs to be equipped with a special jewel in order for it to work. You can also update these “Sowels”, making your items stronger. I would not say that these features are revolutionary and will really make you (the gamer) want to play this game more than any other, however for a bonus (which is what they more or less amount to), they make nice little touches. To be honest I really don’t want to lie about ASDA Story, it is an average free to play MMORPG, and to be honest it will probably remain that way. The title does have a nice system going on though, as you’ll always want to earn that new weapon or piece of amour, which in turn brings you back for more plus playing in a party, is definitely incredibly fun. If the developers can make the game less of a grind though and focus more on providing more weapons, more instants and other items, I can definitely see this game becoming close to the king of free to play, point and click MMORPGs. ASDA Story has a very comforting feel about it, what with the cartoon characters having giant feet and with a distinct anime style that echoes throughout its universe. Also with the list of “jaw dropping” features that this game boasts, I became very interested in whether or not this game will be a revolution to the genre.

Asda Story is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by MaxOn Soft Corp and is published by gamescampus.com for the North American market. The Open Server for Asda Story launched on August 5th, 2008. The game was originally called "MicMac Online" in Japan and Korea. The Japanese MicMac service was closed on September 30th, 2008 after running for two years. Gameplay The game has a Soul Mate system where two players can become Soul Mates. If one Soul Mate is offline, the player can help to level up his soul mate's character. Experience will be stored for the Soul Mate that is offline. Soul Mates also have access to special skills available only to them. In conjunction with the standard method of upgrading, Asda Story implements a "Sowel" system, which refers to the combination of a Soul and a Jewel. Sowels are socketable items, and are inserted into the appropriate weapons and armor to grant bonuses to character stats. As a diversion from the generic leveling up, characters can also dig for items, similar to mining in many other MMO games. Digging may be carried out anywhere except in towns. All that is required to dig is a shovel, which all characters are provided with from the start. The nature and quality of items obtained by digging varies according to the level of the character. Characters may also obtain titles, which can be displayed above their names. Titles are obtained by participating or carrying out a diverse variety of actions in the game, from simply picking up everything they find to helping NPCs by completing quests to joining clans. Currently achieving a title only awards you the ability to display it, but there are plans for certain titles to award other more tangible benefits, such as providing stat bonuses. Classes Characters start at level 1 with the generic job of "beginner", which has no skills available to it. At level 5 players may choose a class of Warrior, Archer, or Mage by undertaking a quest from the appropriate NPC. Additionally, each class has a second and third job tier which they can advance to. All these class changes are available at levels 5, 24, and 40. Experience gain is not stopped during those levels so it is possible to continue leveling up without taking the job change quest. However, this has no known benefits. It is not comfirmed whether character stat gains are reduced if leveling up without doing the job change quest. Class First tier name Second tier name Third tier name Warrior Fighter Knight Weapon Master Archer Archer Ranger Master Archer Mage Mage Sorcerer Arch Mage Skills Each of the three first tier jobs of Warrior, Archer, and Mage has three skill trees each. Progress along a skilltree is generally dependant on having points in skills lower in the tree, limiting cross-tree skill selection. Generally, a character of a chosen class will usually concentrate on one skilltree and spend only a few points in the other skilltrees available to that class. Skills are also limited by job tier (first, second, and third), as well as points in pre-requisite skills, and skillpoints overall spent in a particular skill tree. Therefore it is not possible to skip all the lower skills and choose a high level skill to put points into, for example. Also, skillpoints are allocated at 2 points per level, starting with 2 points at the first job change at level 5. Finally, you will also need to put additional points in the same skill in order to raise it's effectiveness (most skills have a cap of 1, 2, or more commonly 5 points). There are no free "reskill" chances given to players, so the only way to reset skill points is by purchasing an item from the Cash Shop. All these restrictions, combined with the limited number of skillpoints, strongly encourages players to plan their character skill builds carefully in order not to waste points by spreading them out too much. Currently almost all skills work as explained by the in-game text tooltips, with a couple of exceptions. Please refer to the official GamesCampus forum for a list of bugged skills. Asda Game World View

1. The Day of Birth The Omnibus World in AsdaStory was created when the first people began to express their imaginations in words soon after there was a language in the world of language. In other words, the 'Omnibus World' is a world of dreams that was created by people's imaginations and language. With the birth of the world, Tilia, the tree that brings life to the world of dreams and transforms people's imaginations into souls in the world of dreams, had the first flower bud. The appearance of Tilia was followed by the birth a white crow named Albus, which is the leader that leads people's imaginations to the world of dreams and can express the willpower of Tilia in laungage. 2. The Day of Prosperity Soon after the creation of the world of dreams, Tilia learned that it had to invite people to its world of dreams. Any human, as long as he or she can dream, could be invited to the world of dreams. Tilia felt that it needs the participation of people who can control dreams in order to make its world more abundant and prosperous. Tilia first created a white beautiful crow named Albus to work as its messenger and guide people, and invited five great souls that can create the world of dreams. The five souls were called the Five Lords, and they were ordered to build the Continents of Water, Fire, Land, Light, and Air. The worlds were soon named Alpeon (Land), Inferos (Fire), Aqueon (Water), Eris (Air), and Luxian (Light). Until then the Omnibus World was comprised of the continents of five elements and unified into a single world filled with countless number of imaginations. As the first bud burst and the number of participants grew, the number of trees, grass, and dreams grew in the world of dreams. The world tree Tilia turned stories of imagination into jewels of life and soul called Sowel (which means the spiritual essence of life rather than life and soul). And the tree gave the jewels to the races of dreams created in the world of dreams. The races that have received a Sowel told their stories to people through dreams and those who heard their stories began to imagine other things, making the world of dreams more prosperous. The world of dreams grew and prospered as people imagined more and more. As the world of dreams grew bigger and more voluntary participants wanted to freely move to other worlds, Tilia created a god of dimensions named Inua. Also called the God of Doors, Inua ensured safe migrations between dimensions and protected people from drowning in the Ocean of Evil Thoughts that divided the dimensions. 3. The Day of Depression The World of Dreams, which seemed to grow infinitely with people's imaginations, became stagnant as people began to believe only what they can see with their own eyes. For sometime, people were forbidden to tell stories told by the races of dreams and their imaginations. Stories of imagination were accepted as nonsense, and people who tell such stories were branded dreamers. Since then, people didn't believe the stories told by the races of dreams in their dreams. People began to think about only the things they can see. As the world of people grew, people trusted imaginations and stories less and less. People only wanted to believe and talk about things they can do, see, and touch. As people started to imagine less, the world of dreams ceased to grow as well. It was then the world of dreams took form as it is today. When people of reality imagined about the gods across the ocean and dreamed of golden empires, a countless number of continents, oceans, fire breathing dragons, giants, and midgets really did exist in the Omnibus World. But since people only believed there are only five continets and six oceans, many continents and oceans in the world of dreams disappeared, and only five continents and six oceans remained. The world of dreams could not grow unless new imaginations came to the world of dreams. People in the world of dreams were discouraged and longed to regain their dreams with sorrowful hearts, and became destructive and self-consuming. Their longings for dreams served as a cause for the god of destruction Lumper, which stood on the opposite side of Tilia. Unable to create things itself, Lumper collected Tilia's creations, and had three of its representatives to create the worlds of darkness, chaos, and oblivion, and named them Opskuran, Irekal, and Oblava. As the Omnibus World ceased to be a unified world and became divided by the worlds of Lumper, the two kingdoms in Tilia's five continents were called the Tales Kingdom and Fire Realm. 4. The Day of Destruction Finally the day came. It was the day when people in the world of humans stopped to imagine and dream altogether. The world of dreams became smaller after the period of stagnation and people no longer imagined things. The countless people in the world of dreams began to disappear as people stopped imagining things. The last remaining kingdoms and cities changed as well and took other forms. Land and kingdoms weren't the only things that changed. The races in the world of dreams lost the soul of life Sowel and as Sowel became evil, monsters started to appear. The races that have lost their Sowel or whose Sowel became evil were turned into monsters, and began to take an active part in the destruction of the world of dreams. As the world of dreams was destroyed, more people in the human world lost their power of imagination. When the world of dreams is completely destroyed, imagination in the world of humans will cease to exist as well. Some of the races of the dreams that still held on to whole Sowel began to ask humans to stop the destruction of the worlds of dreams and humans. It was when 'Nihil' appeared. It is believed that Nihil first appeard on the delicate borderline between the world created by Tilia and the world created by Lumper. As the name suggests, Nihil means 'the one who doesn't exist' or 'nameless one'. Including his men, no one ever saw him in person, but nonetheless he was as powerful as demon itself. When Nihil first appeared, Lumper loathed this shadowy being despite the fact that he's just like him. Nihil hated the worlds of Lumper and Tilia and wanted to revolt, and was also jealous of them. He wanted to destroy their worlds altogether, and led a powerful army to first destroy the lord of destruction Luper and Fire Realm. Lumper ordered his followers and the Lords of Darkness, Chaos, and Oblivion to kill Nihil. However, Lumper's three lords were no match against Nihil. Lumper's followers were also good at destroying rather than creating things, but they were defeated in the battle against Nihil with the mighty and demon-like power. When they were defeated, Nihil divided them into half and they were resurrected as six lords to serve Nihil. However, Nihil's power began to diminish after he conquered Lumper's world. Nihil was nameless and shapeless to begin with and when he owned a world of his own, he was faced with the dilemma of changing his essence. Whenever he won, Nihil got weaker. Finally Nihil decided to hide himself from the existing world, and created the Lord of Fear named Omnidecron to represent him. 5. The Day of Crisis The disappearance of Nihil was soon known to the world of dreams. Taking this chance, Tilia's great lords of five elements prepared a road to confront Nihil's dark force that threatened to annihilate the existence itself based on their power of life and creation, and named it the 'Road of Mind'. Warriors of Tales Kingdom began to have hopes that whoever reached the end of the road can overcome the fear of the nonexistence being called Nihil and protect the world at the end. Meanwhile, Nihil's army was turned into the Army of Decron by Omnidecron. Omnidecron actually had a body and was a fearful existence that made the army even more powerful. The second invasion followed. Omidecron and his follwers began to attack Tilia's Tales Kingdom. At the same time, Omidecron sent his men to invade the five continents. The Road of Mind created by Tilia and five lords was not enough to stop the Decron Army. Warriors and the Five Lords armed with the Road of Mind fought with their lives, but the Tales Kingdom was at the brink of destruction. It was then Lumper appeared with his new army to attack the Decron Army from behind. This allied force by chance succeeded in driving the Decron Army away, but Omnidecron managed to break the Pillar of Five Elements and Creation and steal part of it. To make things worse, Omnidecron's evil power spread all over the Tales Kingdom, and began to contaminate the citizens of the Tales Kingdom. 6. The Day of Uneasy Peace The disappearance of Nihil was soon known to the world of dreams. After the invasion of Omnidecron, Tilia and Lumper sent their convoys and reached an agreement. They agreed that it would take the combined force of incomplete Road of Mind and Lumper's power in order to confront the Decron Army. So now the warriors could train by using both the five elements of creation as well as Lumper's power of destruction. This is called the 'Road of Warrior'. The seemingly impossible ally between the gods of creation and destruction were connected by the Road of Warrior, and warriors coming to the Tales Kingdom began to walk the 'Road of Warrior' after passing the 'Road of Mind'. However, the ones who became true warriors had to choose between the two gods since they can never be a true ally. Will the 'Road of Warrior' be able to stop Omnidecron, the being of nonexsisting being that stole the power of creation, and his army? It is up to you, who will become a warrior.

You can have only one soul mate and it's like being in a party of two permanently. You can gain more experience points than playing alone if you have someone you can trust as your soul mate to play together. On top of it, if your soul mate joins a party with other players, you can gain both party and soul mate experience points while your soul mate plays with other players. You can also have special skills that only soul mates can use. These skills cannot be used unless you have a soul mate, regardless of what occupation you choose. All these special skills will disappear as soon as you break up with your soul mate, but will be available again when you find another soul mate. You and your soul mate cannot log on to the game at the same time? Don't worry. You can summon the soul of your character and have your soul mate entrusted with the soul. When the character entrusted with your character's soul plays, some of the experience points that the character gains will be stored in the soul of your character. So when you log on, you will receive the experience points as a gift. You need to use something called 'Soul Stone' in order to receive the free experience points. If you can completely trust your soul mate, you can also share your character with him or her. Your shared character will be shown on the character screen when your soul mate logs in, and your soul mate can choose your shared character to play. When you share a character like this, you will be able to play with other occupations and items although they are not yours, making the game that much more fun. Not only that, your character will gain all the experience points although it was your soul mate who played with it. You don't have to worry about your items because your soul mate won't be able to sell, buy, or destroy the items on your shared character while playing for you, so you have nothing to lose when your soul mate plays with your character. Only AsdaStory has the system that enables you to level up with your close friend. Shall I log on with my soul mate?
